Dear Thierry,

here is the result of what I have understood I should do (this is with my
Mandrake 9.1):

lspcidrake -v | fgrep AUDIO ->
nd-intel8x0 : Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]|SiS7012 PCI Audio
Accelerator [MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO] (vendor:1039 device:7012 subv:1734 subd:1010)

grep sound-slot /etc/modules.conf -> snd-intel8x0

/sbin/lsmod -> driver seems not to be loaded

To learn if sound and alsa services have been configured to be run at
initlevel 3

/sbin/chkconfig --list sound -> yes seem to be configured to run at levels
2,3,4,5:
sound           0:Arrt 1:Arrt 2:Marche        3:Marche        4:Marche
5:Marche6:Arrt
 and
/sbin/chkconfig --list alsa ->
alsa            0:Arrt 1:Arrt 2:Marche        3:Marche        4:Marche
5:Marche6:Arrt

aumix -q -> aumix: erreur lors de l'ouverture du mixeur

amixer -> amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device

/sbin/fuser -v /dev/dsp -> /dev/dsp: No such file or directory

Does it make sens for you ?
Must I wait for the 9.2 or is there something I can do ?

Thank you in advance for your help and best regards.
