Use the installation programm to configure X, enter correct screen, graphic
card, and resolution, and say no to graphic boot. Once installed, just add
those lines to your XF86Config-4 :

# This loads the DBE extension module.
 
    Load        "dbe"
    Load        "glx"
+  Load    "dri"   

# This loads the Type1 and FreeType font modules
 
    Load        "type1"
    Load        "freetype"
EndSection
 
+Section "DRI"
+       Mode 0666
+EndSection    

And dont forge't to link /etc/X11/X to /usr/X11/bin/XFree86
