I just upgraded my cooker to the latest kernel, util-linux, and libstdc++.
The bug with libstdc++ has already been reported, but could it be
responsibl;e for the problems I am having:

#1 The newer kernels have some experimental VIA Technologies|VT82C586 IDE
[Apollo] compiled in. Turn this off please! My drive wont even get through
the partition check sequence with this turned on.

#2 That said, I started having the following problem during the boot-up
sequence:

Removing unix/:-1 from the valid list of fontpaths

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

Unix sockets is compiled in why won't it accept this all of a sudden?

#3

Can't locate module z
Can't locate module y
Can't locate module x
...
Can't locate module a

Then my screen messes up and it drops me to a read-only shell. I then type
'reset to clear the screen. What is causing this? Module z?? Module y??

Strange mesages I have never seen before.

Can someone offer some help? I can't even use my system at this point. I
tried downgrading a bit but this didn't seem to help these last 2 errors.
