Hi!
Only a note for clarification, else I agree (with the menu
concept needing beeing changed). My main concern about it is,
that everytime I install an app (choose gnome, kde or x11 or
whatever) which is not part of mdk, I have to manually change
the spec file and add menu entries (and finally send it to
mdk contrib ;). Some examples: snd (good sound sample editor),
balsa (maybe is in cooker, don't remember) or gqmpeg. This is
more a general question: What to with apps which have icons
and such for the "normal" menu system with gnome/kde but do not
appear when using the menu package.

Well I wouldn't remove applications which are only used from
console like editors or similar, but they should be either in
an extra group (like console->editor) or otherwise marked that
they are not a real X program.

No they don't do the same job. This just seems to be the same. If you
deinstall alsa, gmix won't run anymore unless you recompile it. aumix
works out of the box with alsa and oss as it does use only the oss mixers.
(Hmm, well to be correct, aumix does not seem to work on my system with
alsa, but this might be due to the fact that I still use the 7.1 original
Version). kmix behaves same as aumix, but is contrary the aumix a real X app.

More apps plz ;-)
