I must admit,
It would be nice to have an install option
"Expert - Minimal". No GUI, no networking, no
fortune program (5M); just the basics that every
UNIX user would require. Then to have a category
menu. LAN, Modem/DSL, masquerading, firewall,
printing, sound, Apache, Samba, and X with choice
of GUI. And finally, the expert menu that we are
used to, with a check box for each individual
package. And at each step, a disk-space-needed
indicator.

I realize MDK dependencies are intricately woven
into many other packages. I myself could never
survive without perl on any machine, but I
understand the need to cut down on overhead.
I've spent a good amount of time searching for
a minimal install on the net. Tom's Rescue Boot
Disk, The Linux Router Project, etc. But MDK has
everything I need. I've tried very hard to reduce
MDK to bare bones, but I always seem to run into
problems.

This may not be an appropriate time to add this
to the installer, but since the subject had been
brought up...
