Nice idea for those who haven't cable or ADSL connexions.
BUT, I want Linux Mandrake to remain something with a good notoriety.
Once, a french
magazine (PC EXPERT) gave out a CD of a beta version of a previous
Mandrake, because they wanted to
be the firsts. Then every people, those knowing what is a beta, and also
beginners have
installed it : don't expect anybody not to upgrade to the very latest
version of any
software, even if unreliable.
There are many small (but annoying) bugs in cooker : the press may then
start saying Mandrake (and Linux, they confuse OS and distrib) is worst
than Microsoft,
without taking care of the fact they just have a beta.
And the CD inserted into the magazines would contain a cooker snapshot
many weeks old,
making bug reports outdated.
That's why, IMHO, Mandrakesoft should forbid the insertion of betas in
the magazines.
