We use the IBM IDE drives on our servers using 3Ware Escalade's excellent IDE RAID 
controller (works in Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD).

You can RAID up to 8 drives, each on their own master ATA-66 for speeds up to 100MB/s 
off the raid array. The cost/performance ratio

makes a similar SCSI setup just plain stupid.
