| Avoid Compaq in the future :/ I received a very similar response in
| regard to a request for raw disk images of the setup/diagnostics disks for
| my Deskpro 4000. I was told to use the DOS program and that they did not
| (and would not) support Linux. (Ultimately I ended up downloading the DOS
| program, and making the disks on another machine.)
I would say that Presario 1800 I have is very good piece of hardware.
The best of it comparing to competitors are JBL Pro speakers. I have never
heard such sound quality from such small speakers, especially on notebook.
In Win98 I have Aureal3D with them (sound card is ESS Solo-1).
/may be it will be the next step? I also have Intel 100/10Mbit Ethernet card
built-in, but no network at home, so can't test it/
As you have seen, I was not asking Compaq for A3D under Linux ....
Or for missing under Linux soft DVD player (based in Win98 on Mediamatics)
/again, next step ? /
But KAIMAN not able to go full-screen is bad, very bad...
And I can't upgrade built-in Rage Mobility (Mach64) to Rage 128 which has DRI
module under XF 4.0.1...
Let's wait if I get any answer from ATI - I sent them similar mail as well.
P.S. Just to mention on top of it - I already avoided Toshiba with Trident
CyberBlade3D video and Sony(IBM) with NeoMagic.
NeoMagic is not bad, at all, but only 2D... As about Trident - you probably
know that it is one of the worst accelerators.
Plus, I had old HP Omnibook 5000 (P/133) with Chips&Technologies 65548...
That is really bad video...
