Hello Mandrake Chefs,
Congrats on releasing Mandrake 8.0. It looks like it ought to be the best
distribution yet. But after trying to install MK8 b3 (and frantically
backtracking to MandrakeUpdate), I'm not sure whether I will be able to
install MK8 without a *lot* of tweaking. This is because I need to be able
to use VMWARE for Office and better Lexmark 3200 support. VMWARE doesn't
work properly under kernel 2.4.3 (and in MK8 b3 it wouldn't even install)
without some patching (parallel port issues). Instructions on how to do this
are available in the vmware.linux newsgroups (available from Petr at
news.vmware.com), although I have not been successful with them (not enough
uninterrupted time where my wife or I haven't needed the VMWARE part of the
computer).
