You can't determine global linux speed by just testing KDE explorer directory 
listing speed. First, KDE is not linux (rather try ls in console), secondly 
it heavily depends of your filesystem type.
Morevoer, i don't think linux is gloably faster than windows. It depends on 
the task you're considering
