i did tick your mail and will fix this.

except for lilo which is kind of problematic since the binary is of no use
without /boot/boot.b (and maybe chain.b...)

but this pb may be fixed when we provide a tool that search for the root
partition and mounts it in /mnt, because the PATH contains
/mnt/disk/sbin:/mnt/disk/bin:/mnt/disk/usr/sbin:/mnt/disk/usr/bin:/mnt/disk/usr/X11R6/bin,
in which installed lilo is.
if the pb is lilo being missing, then installing it is the best way.

as far as i've tested (aka not much) it seems to work. Do you have more info?
