I have seen this URL, too, and at first glance it looks legit. People are
saying Gibson is a crackpot, but what problem are they seeing with what he
says? When he says "future of the Internet", he's referring to the fact
that WinXP machines can efffect the Internet on a global scale if trojan
attacks are performed in DDOS style. In other words, yes, the majority of
servers may be apache (However, this is not exactly true). When we include
desktop machines, IIS/Microsoft comes out ahead, with apache at only 25%.
This is not exactly the point, but you can see that with the vast majority
(92%) of desktop machines out there being Windows, if enough are able to
be used for DDOS, then the entire Internet is at risk for being attacked.
This is what he means.
