[This is yet another "Stay out of my config files" thread.]

I use a LAN connection via LinkSys router to DSL; NOT PPP... so **WHY** did my
/etc/resolv.conf get clobbered..???!!! Unlike the CUPS situation with
/etc/hosts, I've not yet found the cause of this one...

/etc/resolv.conf (clobbered Nov 7):

> # search pfortin.com
> search pfortin.com
> # nameserver 206.74.254.2
> # nameserver 206.74.254.2 206.74.254.2
> nameserver 206.74.254.2 206.74.254.2
>
>
> # ppp temp entry

Yet, this is what I'd set it to:

> search pfortin.com
> # Local
> nameserver 127.0.0.1
>
> # SkyBest.com
> nameserver 206.74.254.2
> nameserver 204.116.57.2
>
> # IARegistry.com
> nameserver 165.166.4.11
> nameserver 165.166.4.12
>
> # employees.org
> nameserver 128.107.241.167
> nameserver 128.107.241.185
> nameserver 192.135.250.69

I only now discovered the problem because that DNS server went down... besides,
what's with setting DUPLICATE addresses too...?

How many other config files can I expect to be clobbered by spaghetti code..???

Looks like I need to run tripwire to protect my system from **itself**...
