This happened recently to lots of us connected to sunet.se. I understand that uninett (sunsite.uio.no) have been asked to make RPMS2 a symlink so that they have the same setup as ftp.sunet.se. When this is done your problem should not reoccur. This probably doesn't make you feel any better - you've just lost your contrib. I know how that feels. I was angry when I lost mine. I was also angry that I had two lots - contrib and RPMS2. I think the RPMS2 symlink is a better solution so I'm happy that uninett is adopting it. The really frustrating thing about all this is that it happens without any warning, let alone consultation - the mirror sites behaving like loose cannons. > > Not only are these two sites unpredictable and annoying - they claim to > be the PRIMARY Mandrake sites . . . > > If I were Mandrake - I would not tolerate this inconsistency and try to > find more reliable PRIMARY sites or services . . . this reflects poorly > on Mandrake!!!! > > Sorry for the rant, but I just got my RPMS2 directory blown away > locally because they have moved it again on the sunsite.uio.no > > This is inexcusable! -- Peter Ruskin, Wrexham, Wales.
