No, nothing. I think scannerdrake does not even try it  and there are no 
messages generated from sane. If you execute sane-find-scanner it does not 
search for parallel scanners. Or do you mean an identification at boot?

Well, I've tried now. But the problem seems to me, that the port section in 
the mustek_pp only accepts a port adress and not a device. e.g. there is a 
modified version for umax_pp which accepts devicenames.

A workaround is the saned. I configured it and now users can scan too (even 
from a remote machine), but there seem to be problems when printing while 
scanning (no wonder)
