Don't know about abiword but I've tried to use wp8 and wp9 both.  wp8 stinks like a 
beached 
whale.  wp9 is not as bad, only stinking like a beached porpoise, but it makes errors 
and is not 
really usable.  Even wp10 for windows is unstable, ya gotta download a 100 mb Service 
Pack 2  
to keep it from crashing occasionally.  That 's running it under windows, not wine.  I 
almost got 
wp9 for windows to run under wine several months ago.  That's sad because I've always 
liked 
WordPerfect, but version8 for windows was the last relatively bug-free version.  
That's what 
comes from a paint company trying to program a word processor.
