So, when I install Mandrake on my notebook (this isn't cutting edge here,
we're talking P2/333) and the PCMCIA netcard Just Doesn't Work, that's not a
"big problem"? Having the network "Wizard" foul things up, after I've spent
a day getting it working, isn't a "big problem"? (My netcard happens to be a
Linksys, but the postings I've seen suggest that many have the same problem,
and not just with netcards.)

This is not a kernel issue, since it _can_ be made to work, with enough
tweaking of pcmcia/config (Assuming, of course, that you know enough to stay
away from auto-defect.) AFAIK, this has been an issue since 8.0 (and
certainly since 8.1). As of 8.2rc1 it still hasn't been addressed.

I know you're stressed--try to understand that I _want_ Mandrake to
succeed. I only have two hopes: 1) you'll release an 8.2.1 ISO, once things
have settled down and you have time to make a stable version, 2) Next time
you'll allow for a longer "freeze" period, so some of these issues can be
resolved _before_ release.
