We have samba sharing out 2 of our 3 printers to 50+ NT4 and Win2k boxes, and EVERYTHING works, including deleting documents, automatic print driver downloads, printing preferences etc. This is running on a Mandrake 8.1 box with samba-2.2.3a (basically identical to Mandrake 8.2 RPMS). To ensure you can print from samba, you must either not have a windows user name that is the same as a linux username and have "guest ok = yes" in the printers section of smb.conf (the default), or, if you do have usernames that are the same, you must eitherreg-hack your windows boxes to use clear-text passwords, and make them the same as your linux passwords, or you must add your windows passwords to the samba smbpasswd file, using (as root) # smbpasswd -a <username> Please see the docs at http://mandrakeuser.org/connect/csamba.html for more info, or see the docs in the samba-doc package.
