Correct me if I am wrong but this is common problem to 2.4.x kernels (and is not specific to Mandrake in any way) and has been reported many times on lkml. I do not know what real status of this problem is but IIRC it did not look like a bug, rather as inevitable result of VM design. May be when all patches floating around are integrated we see something better. You really cannot do anything about it (at least as long as you wish to stay with released kernels). -andrej
