Umm, I always test spell checking in Writer. However, I admit to have never tested it in Calc. I didn't even know there were spell checking abilities in Calc. ;-) > 2)Fonts: > > - -Look GREAT on Mandrake8.1/OpenOffice1.0 > - -SUCK to the same degree on Mandrake 8.2 with OO.o641c/OO.o641d and > OO.o1.0 > - -Are almost unuseable on Mandrake 8.1/OpenOffice.org641c (strane, > didn't > notice this at the time ...) I believe this has to do to some features in freetype2 they were disabled in MDK 8.2 and newer OOo builds because of possible Apple patents concerning those. > Dynamic linking agains a lot of libraries (including freetype2) would > definitely help though, and probably drastically reduce the size of the > package, and probably help reduce memory consumption. So far, I can only forsee dynamic linking against system freetype2, libdb. Concerning zlib, I doubt it since it appears they heavily modified it or, though there is a zlib-1.1.4 tarball, there is also a patch to revert to zlib-1.0.x that is applied... Anyhow, I can assure you that those libraries take much less room than the actual OOo libraries. > But I have another request ... getting the Mozilla address book > integration working, so I can access our LDAP directory from OO.o. > (maybe I will just run official builds ... since this seems to be a > problem). This is planned on ix86 where gcc3-built libraries are now provided in the tarball. However for ppc, I will have to either stick it mozab disabled or build mozilla-0.9.5 in place. :-( Bye, Gwenole.
