Umm, I always test spell checking in Writer. However, I admit to have 
never tested it in Calc. I didn't even know there were spell checking 
abilities in Calc. ;-)

I believe this has to do to some features in freetype2 they were 
disabled in MDK 8.2 and newer OOo builds because of possible Apple 
patents concerning those.

So far, I can only forsee dynamic linking against system freetype2, 
libdb. Concerning zlib, I doubt it since it appears they heavily 
modified it or, though there is a zlib-1.1.4 tarball, there is also a 
patch to revert to zlib-1.0.x that is applied...

Anyhow, I can assure you that those libraries take much less room than 
the actual OOo libraries.

This is planned on ix86 where gcc3-built libraries are now provided in 
the tarball. However for ppc, I will have to either stick it mozab 
disabled or build mozilla-0.9.5 in place. :-(
