However, Mandrake distributes their software in the US.  In this case,
being French does not help them.  If a French citizen commits a crime in
the US on holiday, US law applies to them.

Doesn't Mandrake also have offices in the US?

What Mandrake would have to do is, at the very least, not distribute an
infringing freetype2 to anyone in the US.  Thus, the download editions
of the CDs could not contain this.  Inclusion on US-based Cooker mirrors
is also highly questionable.
