I thought it was a hardware problem, but it seems it comes from 8.2
distribution as it worked with 8.0.
I tried the latest kernel, but the problem remains.
I'm not the only one with this type of configuration and having trouble
accessing the cdrom/cdwriter drive.

My configuration :

Mandrake 8.2 on an athlon XP 1600+, motherboard MSI K7T266 Pro2, 256-Mo
DDR-SDRAM cas2.5, GeForce 2 MX200 Pro32S, DD WDC WD300BB-00CCB0, cdwriter LG
GCE-8240B 24/10/40. (listed on the mandrake web-site).

I'm not able to read data nor access the cdwriter for burning.
If i try to access it for listening audio cd via the front line, it works. i
can even control the tracks from for example grip (which reads correctly the
cdrom and shows the titles' tracks.

I think it is coming from a wrong transfer mode for the cd-rom data as it
worked in 8.0.

Did someone has an idea of where to find ?

I would love to contribute to cooker (directly or indirectly), but if i
cannot burn my cds, how can i test it at home ?
