Indeed.  But the support is not complete (yet).  The Gnome(2) volume
control for instance does not work, probably because it is still using
the OSS mixer.

If 8.3/9.0 is going to use Alsa 0.9 (maybe it will be 1.0 by that
time), the need for the use of OSS shims should be eliminated.  You
get better control of the hardware if you use the native Alsa
interface rather than the OSS shims anyway.
