Well I be it works! I have an onboard via sound chip that uses the via82cXXX and ac97 kernel modules and sound has always been problematic especially games like RTCW. Now it works fine. It doesn't seem to affect other sound card such as the Soundblaster Live etc... Maybe a few more testers could try it and see how it works. Anyway thank you so much Levi, you just made my day, now back to RTCW.
