What did you do to load the module ? insmod of course won't work, modprobe should resolve missing symbols. It would be better you'd post the exact error message and what you did. Also: Have you tried switching to snd-via686 with draksound ? Warning: It only shows the driver to which you can switch. I have via sound on board chipset as well and it works without any problems here.
