With a fresh install the other day, (no X installed), it does in fact
take about 2-3 seconds to authenticate on the virtual console.
Not that most people can't spare 3 seconds of their life at login time,
but it does look fishy...
Believe me, I'm not defending her, but authentication is not "instant".
