Sure, dependent on where your hands are, Shift-Arrow +
keyboard crap might be faster.  Point was it's
generally not, and not required.  It has nothing to do
with GNOME (making you the 4th person not paying attn
:o)

No, I meant Linux.  As everybody's well aware, it
works in GNOME too.

why hasten it?

It's my experience failed attempted double clicks
cause more mistakes.

I guess I should sum up that the whole point of this
thread is that, yes, though single-click may not be
what most people are used to, they *can* adapt to it,
and they'll be happier about it in the long run. 
Otherwise maybe they'll change it, but don't doubt
people's ability to adapt, before 1991, nobody in the
world (almost) could double-click.
