I wanted to suggest the addition of a few macros in

Yes, could be a good idea, but rebuilding for older distro won't be
compatible unless we provide updated macros there too. I have been
using %x11prefix in XFree86 package actually.

BTW, %_Xlibdir is wrong on lib64 arches.

I think it's a good idea:)

AOL-er ;)

hehe, but you stole it from me;)

rebuilding for older distro's would'nt be any more problem than just
adding those macro's to the .spec file, would it?

We could keep the macro's in the spec for at least until 9.1 is relea-
sed. I mean people that want to rebuild srpms on 9.0 or 8.2 usually know
what they are doing and I wouldn't want to break that.

We could later on let them "patch" the macros with something like:

#!/bin/sh
if [ -z "`grep _Xprefix /usr/lib/rpm/macros`" ]; then
cat <<EOF>>/usr/lib/rpm/macros

%{_Xprefix} /usr/X11R6
blahblahblah
blah
EOF
else
echo "Your macros already seem to be patched" >&2
fi

hmm, that one looks dirty, if it should modify a static file like that, it should rather be done via an rpm upgrade
(or did I misunderstand?)

ahh, btw. people, I FINALLY QUIT MY JOB! mehaa:)

Concratulations :)
