Sorry. I meant that you could comment on the feasibility of just having a UML kernel and tools in Contrib, with UML install bits in DrakX rather than having a kernel and modules.cz right on the install media. I have been thinking about this. More below. This is what I would like to see too. :-) > It's been a while since I looked at > it, mostly due to lack of time, but I think UML would be an awesome way > for me to build/test updates. It would be. Pixel (and all), As you will recall, my original idea was to have the installable CD contain a UML kernel and modules.cz so that one could just mount the CD and run the installer with a UML kernel right off the install CD. It is only really required to do it this way because the installer is only available on the CD (AFAIK). If Mandrake were to create a "run-time" package (i.e. RPM) for the installer, like RedHat does with their "anaconda" RPM, doing a UML install would not require that it be run from the actual install CD (or an ISO image of it). If one could install a "uml" rpm, and a "drakx" rpm and then run "drakx" from a shell prompt (probably need some arguments like UML root image, etc.) and install the UML using DrakX that way, that would be just great. No need to put it on the install CD. Thots? b. -- Brian J. Murrell
