Between the same major releases (e.g. 9.0 -> 9.1)?

Yup.  As far as I know urpmi doesn't do that.  

We get a lot of Debian folks coming in to #mandrake trying to find out
how to upgrade between versions without using the installer.  As it
stands right now we have to tell them to use liveupdate (which we aren't
really sure if it's even supported anymore) or reboot and run the
installer.  But even then we can't guarantee a good update. 

It'd be nice if there was a way for a reasonably experienced end user to
do a system upgrade without rerunning the installer and without having a
messed up system.

I know blue sky type of stuff... but something to keep in the back of
our minds as we work on urpmi etc...
