Then why have scannerdrake at all?? I also don't see how sane/xsane can
fix this without a configuration to use the scanner firmware? Or do you
mean sane/xsane should write firmware for all scanners????

But support would be much easier, simply tell the user which firmware
file to use ...

At present the user has to
1)Guess that they need to configure the firmware
2)Guess which file to edit
3)Guess which firmware to use

Scannerdrake support for firmware would reduce the number of guesses to 1.
