When I switched to the kernel messages view, I saw that there were IO error messages reading from the installation media, and the reader would speed up/down (accelerate, decelearete) continuosly, anytime giving an IO error message. Please, note that I tried both installations from ide DVD readers... the problem might be related to this. (this may be caused by a hardware failure or a Linux kernel bug) After I hit OK the GUI closes and I see this on the screen: error in exec of stage2 :-( trying to execute '/user/bin/runinstall2' from the installation volume, the following fatal error occurred FATAL ERROR IN STAGE1: Exec format error I can't recover from this.
