But I do not need all the other features like RAID, plenty of device drivers and other things. My machine is not a server, just a "souped up" workstation so I am trying to keep the kernel lean, because I am using quite a lot of "exotic" hardware like USB and Bluetooth devices and the more stuff inside of the kernel, the higher the probability of some clashes between the parts (had this before - e.g. framebuffer and Nvidia drivers on SMP do not like each other ...) I was using *-enterprise version for some time, but it was loading too much things to my taste, so I just enabled what I needed in the 'non-enterprise' version and recompiled.
