The sound quality problem does indeed seem fixed, so thanks for the info. The only downside is the remaining problem of KMix. The tray applet volume control doesn't control the volume level, and there are still duplicate controls when you open up the mixer itself. Volume is very low and when playing anything it crackles a lot and there is a lot of hiss. I tried adjusting volume in mixer but I couldn't get sound to normal. Sound worked just fine in Beta 3.
