Using a one cup at a time device, I will pour cold water into the reservoir, plug in the appliance, it will boil the water, saturate it with coffee if coffee is the beverage of choice, and the hot beverage will drip into the cup. No need to pour boiling water. I happen to drink tea, not coffee, and the principle is similar. Still no need to pour boiling water.
