I've used the broil feature in my toaster oven a few times. You keep the
door closed, which is the only way the toaster oven works. I think when
you broil in a regular oven you keep the door partially open. I remember
my father-in-law doing that.

I have never used the broiler except for once. I was going to broil a
steak; 
but the darned thing caught fire and I had to yell for help.  Since
then, I 
have avoided trying to use it.  It really scarred me.
