The electric meat slicers have guards, so you are no where close to the
blade, but like any thing else, you need to keep your wits about you at all
times when using an apparatus like that.

I think one would be much less likely to cut a finger with an electric
knife than with a traditional knife, or something like an electric slicer.
You have to push a switch to turn the knife on, so you are aware when you
are turning it on and off, which would, I think, make it much less likely
for one to turn it on when a finger was in the way.
