Hi Maria, My favorite thing to make in the pressure cooker is corned beef, or beef brisket. If you follow the safety suggestions in your manual it should work fine for you. Just make sure you have enough water in it and that you have it locked properly. And when it is done, use that quick release thing on top or wait for the pressure to go down before you try to open it. When I turn the heat off on the stove, I carefully move the pan over off the burner. That is easy because I have a flat top stove. I use oven mitts for that and also to open that little valve. I don't try to open it until it no longer makes that hissing sound. You definitely should never have anything flying across the room! Just never try to open it when it is on.
