Never stick to the time given in the cookie recipe. If it says 10 min,
give it 8. This is kind of touchy though, because you have to kind of
know your oven. If it starts smelling of cookies, it is more than
likely they'll be ready pretty soon. Also, always stick to the recipe
temperature. I always figure there is a reason why they put that info.
I know this sounds crazy, but don't stay in the kitchen while they
bake if you can help it. That way, the smell stays fresh, and you can
tell if anything is happening in the oven; like if they're burning.
