I usually do something similar to your friend's recommendation.

I put the batter down on the griddle, and then pretty much right away
sprinkle a handful of chocolate chips on top of the batter. . The pancake
will then raise around the chocolate chips a bit, making them less likely to
burn. Also, use the mini-chocolate chips instead of the regular sized
chips. That will help with the chips being more inside the pancake batter.

Subject: [CnD] Burning Chocolate Chip Pancakes?

What methods do you all use to make chocolate chip pancakes? Almost all of
the recipes that I have come across instruct you to mix the chips in with
the batter. However, I've tried this, and the chips always end up burning.
A friend suggested something that I will try next time. She advised me to
pour some batter onto the griddle, and when one side is almost done,
sprinkle on some chips; then pour on a bit more batter and then flip over.
This sounds like it would work better. Do any of you used this method, and
if so, how does it come out? What else do you all do?

Thank you in advance.
Elizabeth
