The sauce for the cake is like a pudding. The pudding ends up on the bottom of the cake.
I have pudding cake recipe similar to this one.

Cake:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons oil or 1/4 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix with a spoon in bol
Spread evenly on the bottom of a greased square cake pan.
Sauce:
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa
2 cups hot water
Stir together in bowl.
Pour over cake.
Bake in 350 oven for about 40 minutes.
