I am not the outdoor cook in the family but currently my son George Elvis is the grilling master chef around here. I bake potatoes in foil in the oven in the kitchen and they come out fantastic.
I imagine they would be fine on the grill in foil too.
What Georgie does that I absolutely love it to take red potatoes and slice them up and he uses a seasoning packet to marinate his potatoes with and then he shakes it up in a plastic bag and then divides it into small foil packets. He also does it with potatoes, onions, peppers, celery, and baby carrots or whatever vegtables you have around. Then he puts them on the lower part of the grill for inderect heat while he grillsteak or chicken or burgers or whatever. After an hour he takes them off the grill and serves each person a foil packet of vegetables. They are wonderful and tender and very flavorful. I think he mixes a little water and the seasoning packet or you can put your own spices in the bag and shake the veggies in it. So if it works for red potato slices and with potatoes mixed with veggies, I would say a small baked potato wrapped in foil would work too. The other day I foiled up a potato and put it on a small pan with a big chidken thigh from Banquet. I turned the oven up to 400 and let them go about a half hour or a little more, probably 45 minutes. Then turned the power off and left them another 15 or 20 minutes. When I took it out I still had to let it cool 15 minutes before eating and really enjoying it.l No cold spots, just perfect.

Subject: [CnD] grilling question

I have a new propane grill. It's nice . not the mess of charcoal and easier
to use. I've done corn on the cob, dogs and burgers, and buns. I have
some chicken and baking potatoes. Can I bake the potatoes on the grill by
wrapping them in foil? Do they taste any better than they do when you do
them in the oven? How long does a small potato take to bake?

Hope one of you outdoor cooks can help,

Abby
