My hesitation is for a different reason. When you're cooking the meat in a crock pot, especially if it's one without a lot of liquid in it, the heat will cook from the outside out, thawing and cooking as it goes. Meat is fairly dense, and this runs the risk of external meat becoming overcooked and dry while the meat in the center is still rarer than rare.
I keep one lower drawer of my fridge for meat, as it's safer to put thawing meat lower than anything else so nothing drips on food that isn't cooked for a long time, like fresh vegetables. (Any vegetables that go in the drawer next door are ones I'm going to cook for a longer duration because of this) I like to thaw things in the fridge for a couple of days to get it to a fully thawed state before putting them into my crock pot. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sandy from OK! I was going to place a small frozen roast of beef into my pot, put it on high and leave it to cook with a little bit of water to start with in the pot. What is your opinion on frozen meat into a crock pot?
