Sometimes When I had the boxes of 16 and wanted to make two pans I would put
just two lasagna noodles in the middle layer and three on top and bottom.
That way I could get two batches out of one box.

I think you are right; seems like I always had at least four leftover from
the full box, and needed another box for another complete recipe!

I could be wrong about the nine. I know a lot of recipes call for nine or
twelve noodles.

I think I have had boxes with more, perhaps purchased at a place such
as Sams Club or your Costco.

Sandy, I make lasagna quite often. I always precook the noodles. the
question I have is, how many noodles are in this box? Everything is in
grams
here, not ounces.
And, do you buy the no boil noodles?

One Step Lasagna without Cooking Noodles
1-1/2 cups water
2 15.5 ounce jars Prego spaghetti sauce
1 16 ounce box lasagna noodles
1 15 ounce container Ricotta cheese, beaten with 1 or 2 eggs 8 ounces
Mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese Combine
water with pasta sauce, and then take one and a half cups of this
mixture and pour it all over the bottom of a 9 by 13 inch pan.
Arrange a layer of uncooked noodles, slightly overlapping, on top of
the sauce. Spread on half the Ricotta, half the Mozzarella, and
sprinkle with 2 Tablespoons Parmesan cheese.
Add another layer of sauce, and then repeat with the noodles, rest of
Ricotta, Mozzarella and 2 Tablespoons Parmesan cheese.
Top with a layer of noodles.
Pour remaining sauce over, spreading evenly to cover edges of noodles.
Sprinkle with one fourth cup Parmesan cheese.
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for one hour at 350 degrees F.
Let stand ten minutes before cutting.
This is a tried and true recipe that I make every Christmas.

Hi List,
I wonder if Baked Mac and Cheese or other noodle dishes could be made
without cooking them separately?
Anyone tried it?
I know for myself if any noodles are cooked too long on the stove
they become pasty because of the starch in them. If I accidentally
don't cook them long enough i.e. I'm in a hurry, they are chewy.
