I have an electric stove, which is slower and I often use my toaster oven.

We usually bake our burgers.  We have a gas stove; therefore, the time may 
be a little different for electric.  Anyway, we bake them at 350 for about 
twenty minutes or a little longer.  We like them well-done.

Cheeseburgers are one of my favorite things to eat, but I admit, I haven't
cooked them very often because my husband usually does them on the indoor
grill.  But I have  done them before and the way I tell that they're done is
by texture and by pressing on the meat.  If it feels firm, it's probably
done.  If there's any squishiness to the patty, then it may not be done.  I
usually cook mine for 8 minutes on medium heat on the first side, flip, and
cook for six or seven on the other side.  Then I press down on the meat to
see what kind of response I get.  I also feel the sides of the patty for
squishiness.  I eventually got it by trial and error, but for me personally,
I found that the sure fire way to get the meat all the way cooked through is
by baking the hamburger patties.  I have not done this in over a year so I
don't remember the precise time and temperature I used, but that's a
definite way to get them cooked through.  Maybe someone else knows about
baking hamburgers and how long to do them?
