I don't know how hot the water gets with a HotShot, but what you need
is water slightly lower than the boiling point. I would think the hot
shot would work well if it makes enough almost-boiling water at a
time. I measure out the amout of water needed in the French Press
carafe and then pour that amount into my electric tea kettle. Then, I
grind the coffee and put it in the bottom of the carafe. When the
water boils, I wait about 45 seconds and pour it into the carafe, on
top of the coffee. I stir and allow the coffee to steep, covered, for
4 minutes. Then I plunge the grounds to the bottom of the pot with the
French press plunger, pour the coffee and enjoy!
