Gingerbread Ingredients: 1/2 cup boiling water 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup light molasses 1 egg, well-beaten 1 1/2 cups sifted flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 3/4 tsp ginger 3/4 tsp cinnamon Method: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour boiling water over shortening; add the brown sugar, molasses and beaten egg. beat well. Sift dry engredients and add, beat until smooth. Bake in wax-paper lined 8-inchh square pan for 35 minutes. Cool in pan and cut into squares. Serve with whipped cream.
