If its an old version of Chimera, it might be the machine stamp issue, although
that wouldn't explain why it works in earlier versions of Coot.
Let me know if you find out more, or if you can send me the file. As I'm sure
you appreciate, it is easier to debug if I can do it myself.

Cheers

Hi Martyn,

The map I have is from a collaborator, so I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to
send it to you. Let me check on that and get back to you. The map was created
by Chimera, with the origin set to zero. It works just fine in some older
versions of Coot on linux that I have, but not a recent one on OS X. I'm not
sure if that's because of the version, or if it's OS specific.

Perhaps it's the machine stamp issue. I'm not sure what version of Chimera is
being used in this case. I'll see what more I can find out and get back to you.

Thanks,
Jeff

Was there any more to this?

I agree with Paul that the first thing to do is check the format of the "mrc"
file. It would be useful to see the file, and to know how it was created (i.e.
by which program).

There was one problem in the CCP4 library (if memory serves, it occurred if the
origin was set to non-zero) which was fixed a couple of years ago. Might you be
picking up an old CCP4 library?
There was a second problem with Chimera writing an incorrect machine stamp, but
this was fixed by the Chimera developers again a couple of years ago.

I'm happy to look into this further.

Cheers
Martyn
