If you're seeing what I'm seeing, then

is quite an understatement. The difference due to compilation flags is
dwarfed by the difference in graphics performance. "Normal coot" is
hideously slow. It looks like it may be using software rendering. I
don't know why that should be if both coots start in an identical
window. Which binary did you pick up?
