"Smoother" in this case means "more finely sampled" - it should have little effect on the map (perhaps 1 part in 1000 or so). It doesn't mean "blur." 0.9-pre users can use Cryo-EM -> Sharpen/Blur with a B-factor of 0 and a re-sample factor of 1.5 or so. That should be faster.
